Privacy policy
Updated 5 October 2026.
This policy explains what information GigGuide collects, why, who we share it with and the choices you have. It covers gigguide.com.au and applies to people who visit the site, contact us or appear in our listings. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Our cookie policy lists the cookies we use, and our terms and conditions explain the rules for using the site.
The short version
- We list gigs and experiences and link you to the businesses that sell them. We don't sell tickets, take payments or offer accounts.
- Google Analytics and advertising tracking (Meta, plus Google advertising measurement) are on by default. You can switch either or both off at any time with the "Tracking choices" button at the bottom of every page.
- Many of our links earn us a commission, so we record clicks on them.
- If you message us or report a problem, we keep what you send so we can reply and fix listings. We don't sell personal information.
- You can ask to see or correct your information, or make a complaint, through our contact form.
Who we are
GigGuide (gigguide.com.au), also called Gig Guide Australia, is run by Rainbo Feela Pty Ltd (ABN 62 136 867 439), an Australian company based in Victoria. When we say "we", "us" or "our" in this policy, we mean Rainbo Feela Pty Ltd. For privacy questions, requests and complaints, use our contact form and tell us your message is about privacy. You can read more about GigGuide.
What we collect when you browse
Like most websites, our web server and Cloudflare, which delivers and protects the site, record technical details of each visit: your IP address, browser and device details, the time and the pages you ask for. A few necessary cookies keep searching, forms and your chosen places working. Saved gigs stay in your own browser. To improve our catalogue, we keep daily totals of site searches: screened search words, chosen places, date filter, result counts and recorded result opens. These totals contain no IP addresses, user or browser IDs, or individual search history. We screen out contact details and keep the totals for 90 days. Please don't enter personal information in search boxes.
Analytics and advertising tracking
Google Analytics and advertising tracking are on by default. You can switch either or both off at any time with the "Tracking choices" button at the bottom of every page. We remember a switch-off for 180 days, then tracking is on again unless you switch it off again. Switching tracking off doesn't stop you using any part of GigGuide.
Google Analytics uses cookies and a random browser ID to measure how GigGuide is used, such as the pages you view, searches and gigs you save. While analytics is on, its search event includes screened search words as search_term; queries containing contact details are omitted. Our server may also send Google Analytics your clicks on ticket, experience and Bands Australia links, and commissions linked to them. We don't send Google contact details or form messages. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google's privacy policy.
While "Meta advertising" is on, the Meta Pixel and our server's link to Meta, the Conversions API, tell Meta about actions such as viewing pages and gigs, saving a gig and following ticket links. Meta can receive a browser or ad click identifier, your IP address, browser details and the page address, and may use this to measure ads and to choose and show ads to you, including on Facebook and Instagram. We don't send Meta your name, contact details or anything you type into our forms, and we keep Meta off our contact, advertise and report pages. The same setting covers Google advertising measurement. You can manage Meta ads in your Meta ad preferences and opt out of interest-based ads at optout.aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu. Read Meta's privacy policy.
If you switch an option off, we stop its tools and delete the cookies our cookie policy lists for it. Records already made, and information already sent to Google or Meta, are kept under the policies that apply to them.
Ticket, experience, accommodation and booking links
When you follow a ticket, experience or Bands Australia link, we record the click with a random reference so we can count it and match any commission to it. Unless you've switched advertising off, the record also includes your IP address, browser details and any ad click code. Affiliate partners and the sites you go to receive details of the click and may set their own cookies. Once you leave GigGuide, the other site's privacy policy applies. A click isn't a purchase, and we don't receive your name or payment details from sellers.
Experience location data
We use Google Maps and OpenStreetMap to check public attraction and tour meeting locations. Our server sends public place IDs or supplier meeting addresses for these checks, without visitor details. Read Google’s privacy policy and the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
Messages and problem reports
Our contact and advertise forms ask for your name, email address, an optional phone number and your message, and the advertise form also asks for your business name. The Report a problem form asks only what is wrong. We save what you send and may forward it to our team by email. We use it to reply, look into problems and fix listings, never for marketing. A first name or nickname is fine. Please leave out payment details and sensitive information.
People who appear on GigGuide
GigGuide shows the names, stage names, photos, gigs and official website links of performers and venues, and photographer credits, from ticket sellers, venues and other public sources, so people can find out who is playing, where and when. We don't keep contact details for performers or venue staff. If you appear on GigGuide and something is wrong, or you want a photo of yours removed, use our contact form. We aim to remove a photo within 24 hours of receiving your request.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run GigGuide (hosting, security, email and AI services that help build and check listings), with Google and Meta for analytics and advertising unless you switch tracking off, with affiliate partners and the sites you choose to visit, with professional advisers, and with authorities where the law requires. Some of these may collect information directly from your browser and set their own cookies. We don't sell personal information.
Information sent overseas
Our website, database and backups are hosted in Sydney, Australia. Some providers handle information overseas:
| Who | Where |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare, which handles every visit | United States and the European Union |
| Google and Meta, unless you switch tracking off | United States |
| Affiliate partners, for link clicks | United States and Canada |
| AI services, for listing information only, never visitor information | United States |
| Email services, if we forward your message | European Union, United States and possibly India |
How we protect it
Every page uses an encrypted connection, only our team can use the admin area and signing in needs a one-time code, and our data is kept in Australia. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold.
How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Your session and chosen places | 7 days and 12 months, in cookies |
| Your tracking switch-off | 180 days |
| Google Analytics cookies | usually up to 2 years |
| Advertising cookies and the random browser ID | up to 90 days |
| Anonymous daily search totals and earlier search misses | 90 days |
| Messages, reports, click and commission records, and server logs | while we need them to respond, run the site and keep proper records |
Your choices
You can use GigGuide without telling us who you are. You can switch tracking off with "Tracking choices" at any time. Deleting cookies doesn't switch tracking off, and clearing GigGuide's browser storage forgets a switch-off. See our cookie policy and tracking above for more.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, through our contact form. It's free. We may ask you to confirm some details so we only give information to the right person, and we'll reply within 30 days. If we can't do what you ask, we'll tell you why.
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, tell us through the same form and we'll reply in writing within 30 days. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Automated tools
We use automated tools, including AI, to collect and check listings and photos. We use automated checks to filter spam from our forms. AI tools work on listing information, not visitor information, and we don't use automated decisions about visitors that significantly affect their rights or interests. If an automated result about a listing or photo affects you, contact us and we'll look into it.
Children
GigGuide is for a general audience and isn't aimed at children. If you think your child has sent us personal information, contact us and we'll look into removing it.
Data breaches and changes
If we have a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we'll tell the people affected and the OAIC where the law requires it. We'll update this policy when the way we handle information changes, and show the new date at the top.
